'O' by Cirque du Soleil
Pronounced eau O is the French word for water O is one of the most popular Cirque du Soleil shows on the Las Vegas Strip – and for good reason. It is a multi-sensory experience, designed to incorporate the elements of air, fire and mostly significantly, water. It is Cirque du Soleil's first aquatic endeavor, featuring synchronized swimming and above-ground acts.
Inspired by the concept of infinity and the elegance of water's pure form, 'O' pays tribute to the beauty of the theatre - from the simplest street performance to the most lavish of operas - where anything is possible and where the drama of life plays itself out before the audiences eyes. 'O' presents one of the most uniquely beautiful stages on Earth. The cast performs on boats, various props and an unseen stage, creating the image that they are walking on water. To be appreciated, it must be seen.
The cast is able to perform on the water using a platform over the water. And interestingly, the water rises and falls without a wake because the surface of the stage was crafted with thousands of tiny holes. With no wake, the stage creates quite an effect. A cast of 85 acrobats, synchronized swimmers and divers perform both in and on top of this 1.5 million-gallon pool. One of the most unbelievable performances is a high dive act that is sure to take your breath away.
